Pinot
Noir, Eyrie Vineyards, McMinville, Oregon
The
Pinot Noir of Oregon startled the wine world
in 1980 when a bottle of Oregon Pinot won the
grand prize for red wines in a competiton in
Dijon. David Lett, the proprietor and winemaker
at Eyrie, had planted his vineyard in the early
1970's and almost single-handedly created the
Oregon wine industry with his unexpected win
in Burgundy.
